RCI Magazine Facade Awards 2020 – Winners! 12 Feb 2021
RCI Magazine Facade Awards 2020 – Winners!
The winners of the inaugural RCI Façade Awards 2020, which are presented by RCI magazine have been revealed at a virtual ceremony on 11 February.
With lockdown restrictions on large public gatherings in place and live events and award ceremonies unable to go ahead as planned, the RCI team prevailed and adapted to the government restrictions imposed by the pandemic, by successfully streaming the Façade Awards UK online for attendees to watch in the comfort of their home or workplace.
The Façade Awards were created to showcase the successful partnerships between manufacturers, suppliers and contractors, and the commitment to quality by the delivery teams who carry out the work on the projects involved.
Following a very successful last 12 months, our work was recognised by the judges with 8 projects being shortlisted for the awards. A glowing recognition of some of the fantastic designs we had worked on. Each project involved several months of upfront design and even longer on site carrying out the installation.
Well we’re very pleased to announce that one of our projects – Marks and Spencer at Rochdale Riverside – won an award for Best use of a composite panel system.
The Eurobond F5 composite panels were installed to the main steelwork. With their long spanning capabilities, this eliminated the need for cladding rails or SFS.
Due to the weight of the panels, they had to be lifted into position by crane. Our operatives worked from scissor lifts and cherry pickers to fix the panels.
The raking bottom edge of the panels meant that the panels had to be cut out of position. Exact measurements had to be taken on site before cutting.
We’re very proud of the finish product, along with all of our other entries into the RCI Facade Awards. We’re already looking forward to next years event, when hopefully it can take place in person!
