Pre-Construction Advice

Our team can provide valuable product and design advice at any stage of a project. With years of experience and long-standing relationships with product manufacturers, our engineers ensure that projects remain within budget without compromising architectural integrity.

Project Management

We utilise a collaborative project management programme to ensure we deliver projects on time, within budget, and most importantly, safely.

Fabrication

Our in-house fabrication service can deliver a wide range of high quality bespoke roofing and cladding solutions, utilising computerised folding and cutting machinery to ensure a precise and consistent end product.

Design

The latest computerised design systems equip our design team with the ability to provide clients, architects and main contractors with a complete plan for the construction project. For the more intricate designs, we have the facilities to produce a 3D image to assist with the design. All of our designers have been trained up to BIM Level 2.

Planning

For each project we provide a strict planning service. This includes producing detailed plans, method statements and risk assessments. The end result is a structured project following a critical path. We communicate with the client at every step of the way and our contracts manager is assigned to oversee the project, co-ordinating between the client, design, and site teams.

We commit ourselves to providing the most economical service available. We are not tied into any one supplier or system which means value engineering is always available. The importance of strong partnerships

Longworth regard the cultivation and development of supply-chain partnerships as critical to the delivery of their projects and the continued growth of their business. One such partnership is with Proteus Facades Ltd. Longworth asked their Sales Director, Simon Gregory to contribute to our guest blog with his thoughts on the benefits of strong and long lasting partnerships.

Partnerships

Supplier and Sub Contractor relationships are key to the delivery of any successful project. Both parties have their own unique skill set and one can’t function without the other. It is fundamental that supplier and installation companies form strong bonds and develop an understanding of each other’s strengths and weaknesses, products and installation requirements so that projects develop in unison. Proteus Facades Ltd and Longworth Building Services Ltd have formed such a bond and delivered some technically challenging scheme’s from both perspectives.

 

West Yorkshire Archive is a prime example of this relationship – a simple rectangular box as described by some installers becomes a complex jigsaw of 701 individually punched and sized panels that all require installation in bespoke locations – it’s like building a jigsaw on the floor but on a much larger 3D scale. The relationship of the manufacturer and installer becomes paramount during the call off, production and delivery phase’s so that materials turn up and are packaged in an orderly fashion that allows a sequenced installation process both parties understand and become stake holders of during the delivery phase.

Green Lanes, Hackney another joint venture between Proteus and Longworth’s posed a different challenge. Height and access become the installers challenge, while the manufacture concentrates on flat rectangular panels. Delivery in a controlled sequenced manner is key, so access scaffolds, mast climbers can be used to optimum efficiency, from a load and labour perspective.
